a password and enter again in verify your password.
Now - All users Must Enter the Password to
Open the Database.
Now - Password-protected database can be opened
from the screen shown in step 1 or with Open in the File menu.
IMPORTANT: If a virus attempts
to infect a password-protected database, you will see a dialog
box prompt. Left-click Cancel button to prevent the database
from opening, and the virus will not infect the database.
FYI: Macro Viruses: A macro virus uses an application's own macro programming
language to distribute itself, and, unlike other viruses, a macro virus
infects documents or databases rather than applications. Some viruses
are not designed to destroy files, but will attempt to corrupt information
in an Access database. Please make sure your updates are up-to-date by
going to: http://www.microsoft.com/Access/default.asp
For now, you will need to use an anti-virus software to remove a virus
from any infected files. McAfee V-Shield is on Carlow computers. When
it detects a virus it will clean infected files automatically, as long
as ‘When the virus is found:’ has the default setting ‘clean
infected files automatically’ specified in the Action tab area.
If you are attempting to set a password
on your database while you are on campus, you might run into
some difficulty since you won’t be able to open your
database exclusively especially from your H: drive. You won’t
be able to set a password becase the file needs to be opened
exclusively.
