This year, Carlow purchased 80 new Gateway desktops and 22 Dell laptops. In addition, 23 Gateway desktops were purchased by the Campus School. With these new computers, the FWH 302 lab and the Grace Library 241 lab were completely replaced with new Gateway computers. These computers now include speakers (with headphone ports) so that students can listen to audio broadcasts available on the web, including podcasts.

The remaining desktops are being distributed to faculty and staff with machines that are over 4 years old and the laptops will go to faculty, including the new faculty members, so they have a computer that is easily transported to class.

With regard to the Campus School, all teachers in the Campus School will receive a new computer for their desks so that they may effectively prepare lessons, implement Blackboard, and communicate with parents via email.

This summer the I.T. Department implemented the second phase in our three phase Wireless Network plan by installing wireless in the following locations: AJP (except the ground floor), Grace Library (floors 2-5), Antonian (floors 3-5) and additional coverage in Aquinas.

To access the Carlow Wireless Network, you have 3 choices:

  1) You can bring your computer to the I.T. helpdesk and have the wireless client installed. With this method, you will have full access to your H: drive and other Carlow-only resources while on campus.   2) You can authenticate to the network using your Carlow active directory username and password when you access the web.   3) You can access the network as a guest, but your access will be severely limited and you will not be able to access any Carlow-only resources.

If you have questions, please call our I.T. helpdesk at x8700 or email helpdesk@carlow.edu
