This summer, Carlow will go wireless! Over the summer
months, Carlow will embark
on the first phase of a three phase project
to bring wireless to campus. The first phase will be installed early
in July and will include providing wireless access to the living
areas in the dorms, most of Curran Hall, the Grace Library 2nd floor
porch area and 2nd floor research area, and the Aquinas 1st floor
MFA space.
The current plan for faculty,
staff, and students will require a small piece of |
|
client software
to be loaded on to laptops and/or desktops that wish to attach
to the wireless network. By using this software, the user will
have access
to all of their active
directory resources including the H: drive. In addition, the
network traffic generated during the session
will be encrypted and secure. Guest access will
also be available to anyone not currently an employee or student
of Carlow, but this access
will not be encrypted and the user will not have any access to
internal Carlow resources. |

Phases
II and III will further expand wireless on campus to include AJP,
more of Aquinas, the “green”,
and more of Grace Library.
If you intend on purchasing a new wireless computer,
or are bringing one to campus, feel free to call our helpdesk if
you wish to ensure that your wireless card and computer will work
properly on the campus wireless network. |
