Anti-Plagiarism Software
During the last year,Carlow has been fortunate to use a free campus-wide site license for Mydropbox anti-plagiarism software. This license was won by Carlow at the Pittsburgh Blackboard User's Group conference. During the Fall of 2005, 52 Carlow classes used the software, for a total of 227 examined documents. Their	plagiarism rate, as calculated by the software was about 17%. This is very similar to other institutions like Carlow. The numbers for Spring are still being calculated. However, our software license expires in August, and we will be reviewing our options closely. Turn-it-in is another anti-plagiarism software used by many	other local institutions. We are closely examining the differences as well as the software pricing and will be making a determination about which license to purchase during mid-summer. If you have any thoughts or suggestions about either software product, please let us know.

Eleven members of the Nursing department faculty will be learning about the uses of Palm Pilot technology in nursing over the summer. Each faculty member received a Palm Pilot in April

with 4 pieces of software including a medical dictionary, a pharmaceutical reference, information regarding diseases and disorders, and a database of laboratory and diagnostic tests. Further information will follow after the faculty provide their feedback at the end of the summer.

The information Technology department is working to implement a new web-based portal by
Blackboard. This portal will include information about campus events, surveys, important dates &
deadlines, your ID Card balances and transactions, and general announcements for all populations
on campus including the Campus School, Students, Faculty/Staff, and Alumnae. This will formally
be available to campus at the beginning of the fall semester, but previews will be available during
the summer.
